Web Tech - Wordpress Security: Do Not Panic!

One of the first things you do when you set up a WordPress site is work on the colors. It's time to add data and text. But what about WordPress security? Don't let the fun of setting up a site that is new distract you you're putting online.

I back up my blogs regularly using a free plugin WP DB Backup. If anything happens I will always restore my website. I use my blog to be scanned by WP Security Scan plugin that is free and WordPress Firewall to block requests to fix wordpress malware.

It will start with the fundamentals. Try to use passwords. Use special characters, numbers, letters, and spaces and combine them to make a password that is special. You could also use usernames that aren't obvious.

You also need to set the"Anyone Can Register" in Settings/General to away, and you should have some sort of spam Read More Here plugin. Akismet is the old standby, the one I use, but there are lots of them nowadays.

It is really sexy to fan the flames of fear. That's what journalists and bloggers and politicians and public figures do. It's great for readership and it brings money to the war chests. Balderdash.

Change your WordPress admin and password username, or at least your password, frequently and collect and use other WordPress safety tips to keep hackers out!
